Object

There is a Styrofoam head of a girl with money on her eyebrows, the man on the yen as her eyes and the design of the yen on her lips. The rest of her face has makeup on it like she is a proper geisha. The money is representing everything the Westerners think the Geisha wants in life. They are labeled. They think the Geisha’s life is only about money, men and looks; Eyebrows-money, Eyes-Men and Lips-Design. This is how westerners view the Geisha, but really they are so much more.
According to the West, the most common image of a geisha is white faced, red lipped, kimono clad, glorified prostitute, but in truth they are so much more. Westerners misconceive the Geisha's as prostitutes. The western world does not have anything that is equivalent to the Geisha, so they identify them as prostitutes. Geisha literally translates to person of the arts. Geishas were extremely popular in the 18th and 19th century. Their job is to entertain men, dance, serve tea and play instruments.
