This art piece is made up of a massive fork with smaller candy nigiri sushi crowded on it. The fork represents the western culture assimilating sushi into their culinary practices. The candy sushi represents the Americanization of it, because “everything is bigger, fattier, and sweeter in America!” When sushi blew up in the states, anything ‘new’ and ‘creative’ was all the rage. The reason behind so much sushi is on the fork is to depict how international sushi has become. The abundance of nigiri parallels the abundance of locations being shipped to and being shipped from.

Although sushi’s globalization has lead to an abundance of jobs, creative outputs, and culture; the overfishing, an effect of the Globalization of sushi, created a slew of fatal consequences concerning biodiversity and economic stability.
