The artistic aspect of this project is focused on the look of a geisha; it is composed of two contradictory looks that represent the geisha. I created a traditional hairstyle for a geisha and a modern punk geisha look on a human model.
For many years, the geisha has always been quite a mysterious character in the Japanese culture. Until today, what the world knows about geishas is most likely limited to their overpriced kimonos and intriguing makeup looks that reflect the stereotypical traditional Japanese woman. Often, people go further than that and insinuate that geishas are ancient days prostitutes. In a google search of the geisha, one of the first results that comes up is the definition of a geisha, as it describes her as a Japanese hostess to entertain men with conversations, dance, songs. kazenoshiro.com, expands more on the matter as they mention, in the past, samurai clans would use geishas as spies for their own profit. Today, the tradition has changed, geisha’s are not required to part take in sexual fore play.
